Bio
Ruben Gabriel Calderon, born in Florida, has always had a love for the arts and photography. Handed a single-use camera by his aunt at the age of eight, photographing was first an escape, but then as a way to study composition, light, color, and texture. After moving from Florida to North Carolina, the Blue Ridge Mountains taught him nature's skills he now applies in the studio. He earned a BFA in Fine Art Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he was taught the history of photography, fashion image‑making, and color science. Knowledge that shaped his engineered approach to set builds and his overall aesthetic.
Based in New York City, Calderon focuses on image driven fashion projects, and building shoots with designers and stylists. His studio practice is centered around digital editing, set construction, and print production for editorial, lookbook, and installation prints. Calderon has collaborated and photographed senior fashion collections for Anthony Perez, Inju Ko, and peers across SCAD’s fashion program.
